THE DETOUR:
THE WORLDWIDE FREE KICK
THE WORLDWIDE FREE KICK
The creative process is never a straight line. Ideas bounce, zigzag, stall, reroute, and honestly, that’s where the magic happens. In our project, “The Detour” for Lenovo Yoga × AMD we wanted to ask the question: What happens when a passion, like soccer, turns into a spark for a global creative chain reaction? So, we teamed up with six JIMMY artists to turn an unlucky shot into an around-the-world creative relay.
Each artist picks up where the last left off, adding their own creative twist while keeping the ball moving. The idea takes a single soccer ball on a wild ride from LA to Brazil, Qatar, India, Germany, Toronto, and all the way back to LA.
It all kicks off with NudeRobot in LA. His mechanical leg sends the ball flying off the crossbar and straight into the next chapter of this adventure.
GabrielBenicio picks up the ball in Brazil at the Three Powers Square, where a pair of monumental warrior statues juggle the ball before sending it to Qatar.

In Qatar, Ghost3Dee uses the Katara Towers to catch the ball mid-flight, rolling into a wild Rube Goldberg machine, flipping, bouncing and finally launching toward India.
For ShutterAuthority, the ball drops into a bustling Indian market, causing mayhem. The ball spills into the street, bouncing off passing cars, until it reaches an elephant who gives it the final nudge toward Berlin.

In Berlin, M_Editat switches to an analogue street-art style, bouncing the ball across windows and facades before firing it to Toronto.
In Toronto, CamylBuena turns the city into a full-on pinball machine as the ball ricochets off buildings before getting launched up the CN Tower and back to LA where NudeRobot, now with his upgraded mechanical leg, finally scores the epic goal.

Alongside each artist’s individual video, they also produced a “How I Made It” video, pulling back the curtain on their creative process, tools, and techniques they used on the Lenovo Yoga.
Missed goals have never been this fun.
